Kantýna (Canteen) is a modern restaurant with butcher's shop concept
When you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by a
hostess and given a paper which you are to use for
ordering
It is full at all hours of the day and the evening. So generallyI prefer to eat on stand up bar.
You can pick out the slab of meat you want. After they cut, weigh and cook for you.
Don't forget to eat Czech style potato pancakes.

Pomerne casto se sem vracime, ale ze sameho zacatku me vse prislo tak trochu lepsi. Jidlo bylo lepsi, ceny byly nizsi, obsluha byla milejsi, ale mozna to je jen muj subjektivni pocit. Nejspis me jen presla ta prvotni radost z originalne pojateho prostoru s dobrym jidlem a vyjimecnym pivem. Na druhou stranu, nikdy se mi nestalo, ze uroven klesla pod "chvalitebne" :)
Such a nice place! It's really a time travel experience.
The food is old style but delicious and the prices are fair.
No booking possible and not too many places are usually available.
Excellent beer.
Suggested for groups of friends.
Na tomhle miste vsechno funguje jako z iluzorni predstavy starych casu kterou v sobe kazdy nosime. Prijdete za 5min mate na prkne super maso a jite. Za 15min muzete odejit najedenej z preplnenyho podniku. Nevim proc ale funguje to na me primo magneticky !!
Great place to have a meal either in group or alone (standing tables are ideal for that). Although quite near from Wenceslau Sq. not at all crowded with tourists.
Skvělý zážitek. Ráj pro milovníky masa. Zajímavý koncept. Jídlo jako zážitek. Skvělý pivo. Příjemná obsluha, která vždy dokáže poradit. Co víc si přát.
This is the place to go when Nase Maso is closed on Sundays. It is a bigger version of it with what it appears a also a larger variety. Simplistic setting almost like a beer hall feel - the concept is that of a butcher shop whereby you order at the counter and get served the food. Expected slightly more from it though the dry aged steak was delicious. Make sure you complete your order with the garnish and sauce of your choice.
Fantastic new concept in the Ambiente group. Just off Jindrisska, Kantyna welcomes you with a proper butchery with the restaurant behind it. Upon arrival, you get a card. On the card, the guys mark everything you eat and drink. And when you walk out, you pay what you ate. No reservations taken, so you need to be lucky. An attempt on a Tuesday evening to visit the place had to be abandoned as it was full.
The quality of the food is outstanding. I have tried different kinds of meat and all were excellent. The burgers are to die for and the steak tartare is as fresh as it can be without anything strange added. I will come back for sure
Na začátku je nutno říct, že Kantýna určitě okouzlí každého "masofila". Pečený ořech a jehněčí rolka byly vynikající. Jako přílohu jsem si dal pečenou mrkev, která mě oslovila snad ještě víc než maso. Ideální místo pro oběd. Kantýna má hezké prostředí, ale zase to není místo, kam bych si zašel na večeři.
Pokud zůstaneme čístě u masa, tak jsou ceny příjemné, horší to začíná být s přílohami nebo pitím. Nealko do objemu pod 0,5l za více než 50kč mi také příjde jako přestřelení.
Obsluha byla z vetší části milá a příjemná. Během první návštěvy jsem byl z konceptu dost zmatený (stejně tak jako další hrst hostů se mnou - což pak ústí ve zbytečné fronty).
Určitě stojí za vyzkoušení a opakovanou navštěvu, jen si připravte peněženku.

Simply amazing! This place has a great ambience, very interesting interiors and food is simply mouth watering. Butchers are really friendly, helpfull and convice you to try cuts of steak that you maybe never heard of before. If you are a meat lover, this place is a must while in Prague. Notice that you can not reserve a table. If you go in for a dinner, it will most likely be packed, so just wait for few minutes, people come and go quite quickly and grab a beer while waiting. :)
